ANANSI & the SKY GOD’S STORIES - a play for schools (Grades 5-7) adapted and retold by Sheryl Gwyther from an African tale retold and illustrated by award-winning US author, Gail E Haley in her book, A Story A Story.
I appreciate Ms Haley’s permission to expand and retell her version to use in my script. She is a brilliant storyteller in her own right and her printmaking skills are amazing.
Here’s an animated video of Anansi and the Sky God. It uses the woodcuts from Haley’s work. Last year the book’s publication celebrated its 30th anniversary.
